The Knoxville Public Library will hold an open house art reception for Larry Kirkwood on Thursday.
The reception will be held at 6:00 pm and attendees will be able to learn more about pieces from Kirkwood that have been on display at the library. Kirkwood was a 1961 Knoxville High School graduate and he passed away in 2012. He is well known for specializing in silk screen artwork. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson encourages the community to come out to this event to learn more about who Larry was.
“He was very famous. He had exhibits in different places and did a lot of artwork. A lot of it was based on beach and sunset scenes because he lived in Florida for a while and he is a local boy.”
