The Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Luncheon for teachers who are new to the district will be held at noon this coming Wednesday August, 14th. Kaylea Marchant took over as the new Executive Director of the Chamber in mid May. But she already sees the benefits of welcoming the new teachers to the community.
“I feel it’s important for multiple reasons. Our teachers do a huge job for us, bringing up our future. That right there is huge! But also as new members to the community and the school district, we are sharing with them what benefits we have to offer them in Newton. What businesses can help them with.”
Marchant says just under 20 new teachers plan to attend. She hopes all the teachers get adopted by a business.
“So for a business’ $100 they get a gift card to help them get started in their new classroom without having to spend their own money to do it.”
The New Teacher Appreciation Luncheon will be held Wednesday at noon in Community Heights Alliance Church.
