Band camp has started for one of Iowa’s premiere marching bands ahead of the upcoming fall competition season.

The Pella Marching Dutch are beginning preparations for their series of performances, this year with the theme “The Other Side,” according to drum major Josie Boll.

“It’s featuring ‘Hello’ by Adele as our ballad, and it’s really about periods of transition and breaking through new times and it’s going to be really cool,” she says.

The band is working toward their new show this fall for the first public performance during the Pella home football game on September 13th against Indianola, before they open with The Big Reveal on Saturday, September 21st at 8:30 p.m.

A mattress fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pella High School east commons, which features name-brand mattresses for purchase, with a portion of each sale going to the Pella High School band program.
