After concluding a remarkable freshman athletic season, Braylon Bingham looks to lead the Pleasantville football team to new heights this upcoming season.
If you live in Pleasantville or anywhere in Marion County for that matter, Braylon Bingham is turning into a household name. That may seem odd for someone entering their sophomore year of high school, but what Bingham did in his first year of athletics at Pleasantville High School is something almost too far fetched for Hollywood.
Bingham earned all-state baseball honors as an eighth grader before even starting his freshman year. He later went on to assume the starting quarterback role for the Trojans last season part way through the year, a role in which he excelled. Bingham led Class 1A in yards per completion and broke the school record for passing yards in a game at West Branch. Bingham later went on to lead the Trojan basketball team in scoring and became a first team all-conference selection. If that wasn’t enough, Bingham qualified for the state track and field meet in the high jump and helped lead the baseball team to the state tournament this past summer as he led the conference in hits and was once again selected to the all-state team.
The now sophomore is excited to lead the football team as the week one starting quarterback and help Pleasantville chase a district title. Bingham says he is grateful for everyone who helped him out during his freshman year.
“I’ve had a blast. I’ve had a lot of good friends help me along the way, a lot of good coaches that I’ve looked up to and I couldn’t have asked for a better freshman year.”
Pleasantville Head Football Coach Mack Jorth said that Bingham is also one of the hardest workers in the weight room and the sky’s the limit of what he can accomplish. Bingham and the Trojans will open their season at home on August 30th against Interstate 35.
