The Newton Volleyball team will take the court for the first time this fall on Thursday, competing against two area teams in Newton High School’s upper gym. New Coach Heidi Wololums’ squad will host Marshalltown and Lynnville-Sully tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. The Cardinals will also take part in another scrimmage next week, traveling to Johnston High School for an exhibition that will include ten schools  on Thursday, August 24th at 9 a.m.. The other volleyball squads attending the Johnston scrimmage include Little Hawkeye Conference foes Dallas-Center-Grimes, Indianola, and Norwalk. The scrimmages will help the Cardinals prepare for their first match on Tuesday August 27th at home against Saydel. Last year under coach Kim Florke, the Cardinals posted a record of 15-13 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
