The Knoxville Football Squad will have a new signal caller under center this season. Brenden Woolsey got several snaps last year near the end of the season after Noah Keefer went down with an injury. Keefer graduated last spring, so that opened the door for Woolsey to take over. Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Woolsey has put in the work during the offseason and is ready to take over full time.

Dunkin: “He’s started and had varsity playing time the last 2 years, so he’s experienced and not a fresh new player that doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s had a great offseason, he’s rallied his teammates to work out on Saturday’s and go to camps.”

Woolsey passed for 715 yards and nine touchdowns last season, he is also the leading returning rusher with 128 yards. Dunkin adds Woolsey will have a large crop of receivers to get the ball to as many as seven receivers could see time this season on the edge. The Panthers get their season underway on August 30th with the home opener at Randy Wilson Track against Boone. Listen to the Panthers each Friday night on the radio home for Knoxville Sports 95.3 KNIA.
