Optimism is high for the Norwalk boys golf team this fall as the Warriors return their top five golfers from last season.
Leading the way are seniors Grady Sigrist and Mason Johnson, who posted 18-hole averages of 78.1 and 80.3, respectively, in 2023. The returning cast also includes juniors Lane Juergens and Ian Lux, and sophomore Tillman Papcun. Another sophomore, Dayton Poen, is expected to challenge for a varsity spot, while seniors Braylon Stockwell and Kaleb Foltz add depth to the roster. Last season ended with a seventh-place finish in district play.
Norwalk hosted Dallas Center-Grimes for a scrimmage at Willow Creek on Friday and shot a solid team score of 7 over par. The Warriors open the season Monday at the Ankeny Centennial Invite with a tee time of noon at Briarwood Golf Club.
