It has been a struggle for the Twin Cedars Football program over the last few seasons. The Sabers have gone 5-40 over the last five seasons. Mark Ford is looking to change that trajectory as he is in his 1st year as head coach of the Sabers. Ford is no stranger to the Twin Cedars program as he was interim coach for a few games last year when former Coach Cam Parker had health issues. Ford told KNIA/KRLS Sports after the Sabers’ scrimmage Friday night against Mormon Trail, he liked a lot of what he saw.
Ford: “It was really the best practice since we started. I saw a lot of things I like, there were some things I needed to change. Some of the kids found out what it’s like to be in football condition, but I saw some really good things.”
Ford adds that it will be an uphill climb back to being competitive with the top tier teams like the Sabers once were and he hopes that Friday was the first of many steps toward that this season. Twin Cedars will have a week zero game next week at Colo-NESCO.
