Melcher-Dallas Community Schools are set to begin four-day school weeks this academic year, and have already seen some advantages from the change.

Superintendent Scott Bridges stated that one of the benefits of four-day school weeks was the ability to recruit and retain qualified staff members. Bridges reports that Melcher-Dallas saw minimal turnover in faculty for this academic year and says that he believes the change in their schedule helped keep staff within the district.

“There are not a lot of school districts that can say that, and so we feel like that’s A) because it’s a good place to work, and B) because of this benefit. So, that’s where the excitement is coming around, is like we’re not looking as hard to find teachers now, because we’ve got teachers that want to be there and want to stay.”
