Central College institutional research director and professor of political science Andrew Green was recently appointed to a term on the NCAA Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee.

Green, who has served as one of Central’s faculty athletics representatives since 2007, will serve until January, 2029. According to the NCAA, the committee is responsible for interpreting Division III legislation and issuing official interpretations and educational resources, as necessary. The committee also reviews and refines legislative proposals, incorporates interpretations into the Division III legislation, reviews Division III legislative issues to ensure it remains appropriate and relevant in the Division III climate, and reviews and determines the facts related to the international amateurism fact-finding process. The committee includes 10 members plus one student-athlete representative. Green’s appointment extends Central’s tradition of NCAA service and leadership, dating back to former president Kenneth J. Weller authoring the original Division III philosophy in the early 1980s.

The committee conducts regular online meetings throughout the year and in person each September. Green completed an onboarding process recently and will attend his first meeting next month.
