For all of the talent the Pella football team boasts among its skill players, the point-of-attack on both sides of the ball remains a work-in-progress.

The Dutch graduated all five starting offensive lineman, as well as the entire starting defensive line and top tight ends from the 2023 season. Pella Head Coach Jay McKinstrey knows the importance of a strong front on both sides of the ball, and time will tell how a much younger and more inexperienced group will do against the upcoming tough schedule.

“Just be patient with us,” he says. “I’m sure those guys are going to be working hard and I know Coach [Reid] Evans will be working with them — they’ll develop and mature, but they just need some time.”

Pella opens with a scrimmage against PCM on Friday, August 23rd at Central College with fans encouraged to bring sports drink donations. The Dutch opener is at Ballard on Friday, August 30th.
