The Indianola Police Department is preparing for the beginning of the school year with their Slow Down! School’s Back in Session traffic enforcement project. The project includes extra effort focused towards increasing awareness and safety within the community, as well as reminding our citizens to be mindful of the increased vehicle and pedestrian school traffic that will be in and around the community.
The department is also teaming up with the Carlisle Police Department for extra enforcement on the roads in each community through grant funding provided by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. The goal of the increased enforcement is to help remind motorists to keep vehicle speeds down, to make sure occupants are wearing seatbelts and that drivers are obeying all traffic safety laws, specifically those pertaining to stopping for school buses and yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks.
