Fall classes at the Newton DMACC Campus begin tomorrow. The new Executive Dean of the Campus is former Newton High School Principal Bill Peters. Peters retired after 20 years in the role this past May. He didn’t plan on getting another full-time job again, but then this DMACC position opened up.
“I wasn’t going to do anything. I was just going to retire and find something to goof around at. Then this came open and it intrigued me. I really like the mission of a community college, and DMACC has been such a great partner. I thought I wouldn’t mind working on the other side of the fence, a marriage with the county high schools and the students of Newton. They might be non-traditional students who are 50 or 19 years old. That interests me having the non-traditional student and something different than what I have been doing”
Peters says he’s excited and ready to get students on campus. Here more from Bill Peters on today’s Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Let’s Talk Newton
