Newton’s Volleyball team will travel for the first time this year on Saturday morning to participate in a multi-team scrimmage at Johnston High School. Three Little Hawkeye Conference opponents are scheduled to be there as well: Dallas Center-Grimes, Indianola, and Norwalk. The scrimmage is to begin at 9 a.m.. Newton Coach Heidi Woollums said she was very pleased with the team’s performance in a scrimmage at Newton High School last Thursday. She did note the team needs to work on calming down and playing through situations when things don’t go their way. The Newton Volleyball team will get to open the season at home next Tuesday, August 27th with their own invitational. The opponents will be Des Moines Hoover, PCM, and Saydel. The matches will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Newton High School’s upper gym.
