The Norwalk boys golf team set an 18-hole school record on Tuesday, defeating Dallas Center-Grimes 286 to 292 in a dual meet at Beaver Creek Golf Club near Grimes.

Warrior senior Grady Sigrist and sophomore Tillman Papcun both shot rounds of 69 to pace the field. Papcun’s score was a career best. Mason Johnson carded a 72 for Norwalk, Ian Lux rounded out the team score with a 76 and Dayton Poen added a 78.

The Warriors’ 286 was two strokes under par and broke the school record of 287 (7 over) shot in the spring of 2023 at Oskaloosa.

Norwalk’s next meet is the Johnston Invitational, set for 9:00 a.m. on Monday at Jester Park Golf Course near Granger.
