Morgan Singleton is entering her third year as head coach of the Indianola girls cross country program, with as big of expectations as ever after a stellar finish at the state meet in 2023 and a school record-breaking performance at the state meet. Coming into this year, the Indians lose multiple varsity runners to graduation, but will return several underclassmen and feature their largest roster in recent memory. Singleton tells KNIA Sports the team culture has a lot to do with the growing numbers.
“It’s just a super strong team to be a part of, and it’s been super fun to see the growth in maturity, the growth in athleticism, and the growth in friendships too. Because if you don’t have friends on the team and you don’t have fun, then I’m doing something wrong. To see the camaraderie between the girls and the sisterhood is really special and it’s a really strong point for our program.”
Indianola begins their season August 27th at DMACC.
