ix of the 18 players on roster for this year’s Newton Volleyball team are seniors. One of the key contributors for the Cardinals from this season’s senior class is Macy Lampe, who is a four-year starter and reached 1,000 assists last fall. This year, Lampe will be on the court with several new players and says her goal is to get the team to play together with confidence.

“We have a great team this year with a lot of girls I haven’t played with that much before. I want us to play together and play aggressively. Last year we had a winning record and obviously I want to do that again. It is my Senior year so we want to go out with a bang.”

The Newton Volleyball team opens their season on Tuesday with their home invitational, which will feature PCM, Des Moines Hoover, and Saydel. Matches for the Cardinal Early Bird Invitational matches that will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the school’s upper gym.
