For the 2nd time in four years, amateur and professional fireworks enthusiasts from around the world will converge on Newton next year. Newton Mayor Evelyn George has announced the City will host the 2025 Pyrotechnic Guild International Annual convention,
“The competition was down to Appleton, Wisconsin and Newton, Iowa, and Newton won. So Newton will be hosting the 2025 PGI, Pyrotechnic Guild International Conference, the week of August 3rd next year.”
The Pyrotechnics Guild International or PGI is an independent worldwide nonprofit organization of amateur and professional fireworks enthusiasts founded in 1969. It’s the largest pyrotechnics community in the worl.. Newton hosted the organization’s yearly convention in 2022 at Iowa Speedway.
“All our eating and drinking establishments and local shops are very excited to hear that we are going to have thousands of people in town again for a week.”
The nightly fireworks displays that are part of the PGI convention will be held in the Woodland Park area on Newton’s northside.
