The Pella Knights of Columbus 26th Annual Campaign for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities concluded Thursday with a seven-hour Pellathon at St. Mary’s Church.

Members of the organization made roughly 600 calls to community businesses and residents on Thursday and have currently raised $48,000 for the special education departments at Pella and Pella Christian Schools, Christian Opportunity Center, 818 Forward with Faith, and the Iowa Special Olympics. Kelly Mitchell with 818 Forward with Faith says it’s been a great experience to partner with the Knights of Columbus to support individuals with intellectual disabilities.

“We have been very, very, very blessed to be a recipient of money from the Knights of Columbus, and our organization is completely donation based. So, when we get to have collaboration with different organizations, especially like Knights of Columbus, and we get to be that extremely, extremely blessed recipient, it’s kind of shocking actually. It’s pretty amazing to know that other people believe in our organization just as much as we do.”

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio was there to interview individuals with the organizations impacted by the annual fundraiser. Donations can still be made here.
