Another section of Main Street will be closed in Knoxville next week.
This closure will be on Main Street from Attica Rd. to 7th St. for a private sewer repair. The closure is expected to last until Friday, August 30th. Other road construction continues to be ongoing throughout the city as part of the Street Improvement Project. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery encourages the community to remain patient with all of the construction going on, and to still support local businesses that are being affected.
“Construction at any time period can be frustrating and an inconvenience for not only pedestrians and vehicle traffic but also business owners, they are highly affected especially by the ones happening right now. We definitely ask for everyone to be patient. These are improvements that are needed. Especially the aging infrastructure. At some point it has to be done as we work through that just be patient, continue to support our local businesses and the end result will be great.”
According to the timeline provided by the city, phases one and two of the project are expected to be completed in November. For updates on the construction you can follow this link.
