The fall sports seasons on Eagle Lane are set to begin this week, as the Pella Christian cross country, football, and volleyball teams are set to compete later this week. The Eagles cross country squads will open the season on Thursday, running in the Marshalltown Early Bird meet. Pella Christian will run against 12 other schools and five ranked teams at Marshalltown Community College. The girls race will feature Class 4A #17 Mason City and #20 Southeast Polk and Class 2A #16 Grundy Center, while the boys race includes Class 4A #13 Urbandale and Class 3A #17 North Polk. The Pella Christian football team will follow that up with their first home game on Friday night against rival Des Moines Christian, who they beat 49-35 last fall. The Eagles volleyball team wraps up the opening week of sports at Pella Christian on Saturday, competing in the 16-team Bondurant-Farrar Tournament. The volleyball tournament has five ranked teams scheduled to be in attendance with Class 5A #6 Indianola, Class 4A #11 Pella, Class 2A #1 Denver and #4 Wapsie Valley, and Class 1A #3 North Tama.
