Having two 4-lane highways running through Jasper County adds an extra burden on the Jasper County Attorney’s Office. Scott Nicholson has been the Jasper County Attorney for six years, and knows quite well what kind of crimes major highways can bring to a community.

“Interstate 80 and Highway 163 are both very active for drug trafficking unfortunately. Those highways do bring another layer of crime through the County. People transporting guns, contraband, or what have you.”

Nicholson says since he’s been Jasper County Attorney, the office has never referred a major Felony case outside of the Office to be prosecuted unless there was a conflict of interest.
