The Norwalk boys golfers placed fifth out of 12 teams in Monday’s Johnston Dragon Invitational at Jester Park. The Warriors posted a team score of 297, finishing 10 strokes behind first-place West Des Moines Valley. Individual medalist Braeden Nelson placed the Tigers with a 6-under-par round of 66.

Norwalk was led by seniors Grady Sigrist and Mason Johnson, who both carded 1-over rounds of 73. Ian Lux was also steady, shooting a 74. Tillman Papcun turned in a 77 and Dayton Poen added a 79.

The Warriors are back at it today, competing in the Fort Dodge Invitational at 10:00 a.m. The meet will be held at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Today’s Norwalk cross country meet at DMACC has been canceled due to the heat. The Warrior volleyball team opens their season tonight, hosting Dowling Catholic at 7:15.
