The City of Newton is providing residents an opportunity to get rid of unwanted electronics, scrap metal, and appliances. The City is partnering with H & W Recycling in Baxter and A-Line Iron and Metals of Waterloo to host a recycling event Saturday September 7th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Items should be brought to the public parking lot at North 2nd Avenue West and West 4th Street North. Residents can recycle heat and cooling appliances, outside and yard equipment, household appliances, scrap metal, and electronics. A complete list of items accepted free can be found on the City of Newton’s website www.newtongov.org. A-Line Iron and Metals will accept televisions and computer monitors for a fee:

Regular sized TV’s- $20

Console TV’s- $30

Big Screen TV’s-$30

Computer Monitors- $15

The City of Newton says A-Line Iron and Metals have all their certifications to De-Manufacture appliances, freon, and electronics. The company is also certified by the DNR and the EPA.
