The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved a new county IT Director at their meeting Tuesday morning.

The board approved Andrew Claseman to be hired for the position with a starting salary of $90,000. The hiring committee has spent the last several months working to fill this vacancy after the death of former IT Director Andrew Meyers in May. Also at the meeting ,there was a lengthy discussion between the board and Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini regarding Pella Library funding for online services accessible for rural residents. The Pella Library Board of Trustees were asking the county for $8,400 in additional funding to provide the service Hoopla for rural residents. The board declined this request, but rural residents will still continue to have access to the programs Kanopy and Bridges.

Also at the meeting, the board approved the second reading of declaring EMS as an essential service in Marion County in a 2-1 split vote, and two change orders for the Junction 92 County Maintenance Facility.
