The Norwalk boys golf and volleyball teams were back in action on Thursday while the cross country teams had a second meet canceled due to hot weather.

Volleyball 2-1 at Quad
The Class 4A 10th-ranked Norwalk volleyball team went 2-1 at Thursday’s Southeast Polk Quad. The Warriors started the night with a pair of three-set wins, rallying past the host Rams 20-25, 25-22, 15-7 and outlasting Humboldt 25-23, 18-25, 15-9. They were defeated in two sets by 5A 6th-ranked Indianola, 14-25, 23-25.
Norwalk coach John Fulton tells KNIA Sports that middle hitters Emmory Toppenberg and Jillian Hammond played fantastic volleyball overall. He was also impressed by the all-around play of outside hitters Elle Hatlevig and Ava Carlson and added that setter Hadley Michael ran a great offense throughout the evening.
The Warriors are now 2-2 on the season and will compete in the Ankeny Centennial Tournament on Saturday.
Cross country canceled
For the second time in three days, Norwalk had a cross country meet canceled due to excessive heat and humidity – this time at Marshalltown. The Warriors added the Marshalltown meet to the schedule after Tuesday’s Ankeny Centennial Invite was also called off.
