The PCM football team dominated Sigourney-Keota on the road for a week one win Friday night.
The Mustangs defeated the Cobras 54-14 for the commanding victory to start their 2024 season. Senior running back Adrien Robbins and senior quarterback Gavin Van Gorp both had two rushing touchdowns in the win while Robbins also had a receiving touchdown. Van Gorp threw for three touchdowns in the win with Riley Graber reeling in two TD grabs. Freshman Easton Morris also had a rushing TD to round out the scoring for PCM.
On defense, Trenner Van Dyke had an impressive night recording 12 total tackles and three sacks with four tackles for loss. Chase Wagaman and Riley Graber both had an interception in the contest as well. Coach Greg Bonnett said his team played really well in the game and he feels his guys on offense like Robbins and Van Gorp picked up where they left off from last year.
“With the way those two guys were clicking, and the way everything was clicking it felt like we were in a week eight or week nine game so that was good to see. We knew we wanted to get out and start fast this year and keep improving from there. I feel pretty good about that but for Sigourney, the score doesn’t show it , but they’re going to win some ball games and they’re pretty good. They had some talented and physical kids.”
The Mustangs start the season 1-0 and will host Pella Christian on Friday.
