The Storm men’s cross country team earned a season-opening victory at the Bill Buxton Invitational on Friday evening, led by Cole Leggett and Miles Combs,
Leggett took home his highest finish in his career with a second place mark with a time of 19:30.5, dropping over seven seconds from his time at last year’s Bill Buxton Invitational. Combs cracked the 20-minute mark with a time of 19:58.7 and finished fourth out of the 54 participants. James Johnson, Drew Engler, and Jack Cavan all finished in the top ten to lead Simpson to the team title with a score of 33 points.
The Storm women took home a second place finish, scoring 36 team points. Teghan Booth took home the individual title with a first place finish, with Mya Whitaker and Emily Escoto placing 6th and 8th to round out the top finishes.
