Local and International Blues artists are performing in Newton today at the South Skunk Blues Society’s  annual Bowlful of Blues at Maytag Park. The music goes from from noon to 9 p.m.. South Skunk Blues Society President Mike Cooling says there are four featured acts. The Sears Band led by Jim Sears is a local favorite. Then, Steve E. George Band features an Iowa Blues Hall of Fame member who played with “The Blue Band” years ago. Brandon Santini travels nationally playing the harp and does vocals. The headliner is the Avey Grouws Band. They started as a local bar band and tour internationally now. Tickets are available at the gate for $30 cash. Kids 12 and under are free.
