The new pickleball courts at Aurora Heights Park in Newton will get plenty of use today as the Newton YMCA hosts a Labor Day Pickleball Tournament. The tournament includes pool play followed by a double-elimination tournament. Newton YMCA Interim CEO says the facility has seen a big increase in pickleball players.

“Pickleball continues to be an absolute monster of a sport that’s growing in popularity. It seems like every year we have more and more pickleball players and people looking to play indoors during the winter months.”

Prizes will be awarded to the tournament’s top finishers. There is an Open Advanced Division and an Intermediate Division. The entry fee was $50.00 per team.
