The Pella Christian cross country teams are set to compete today for the first time this fall, while the volleyball team will begin Little Hawkeye Conference action on Eagle Lane tonight.
After their original season opening meet at Marshalltown was canceled last Thursday, the Eagles cross country squads will participate in a loaded 12-team field at Dallas Center-Grimes. The Class 2A #9 Pella Christian boys will square off with five other ranked programs, including Class 4A #7 Dallas Center-Grimes, Class 3A #4 Des Moines Christian, #6 Carlisle, and #7 Winterset, and Class 1A #3 ACGC. The Class 2A #15 Eagle girls will face six other ranked squads today, including Class 4A #2 Dallas Center-Grimes, #11 Indianola, and #20 Southeast Polk, Class 3A #4 Des Moines Christian, Class 2A #1 Van Meter, and Class 1A #5 ACGC.
The Pella Christian volleyball team begins conference play tonight with a rematch from Saturday’s Skip Anderson Invitation at Bondurant-Farrar against Class 5A #6 Indianola. The Eagles fell to the Indians 21-12, 21-6 in the opening match of the tournament this past weekend, but bounced back to finish with a 4-2 record and a second place finish.
Pella Christian’s cross country meet at Dallas Center-Grimes is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm, while Eagles’ home-opening volleyball match against Indianola is set to begin at 7:15 pm.
