The Indianola City Council met in regular session Tuesday. The council discussed the fees regarding the recent ordinance allowing ownership of Urban Chickens within city limits, giving direction to city staff for an $80 initial fee for the permit, and a $40 renewal fee each subsequent year to help pay for inspections.
The council also reviewed the plan for Vision 2030, the new plan for city facilities including a Public Safety Building, City Hall, and the Indianola Public Library. A proposed plan initially had a bond issue coming out this fall, however during the planning stage the project was estimated to cost approximately $74 million. A new possible plan is being discussed with city council and city staff regarding a phased construction period for a series of city buildings including a Public Safety Building, Public Works, City Hall, and the Indianola Public Library. No official action was taken by council, and a Let’s Talk Indianola program featuring City Manager Ben Reeves discussing Vision 2030 can be found below.
