Norwalk opened the Little Hawkeye Conference volleyball season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep at Oskaloosa, winning 25-17, 25-13, 25-23. The Class 4A 10th-ranked Warriors improved to 6-5 overall and joined Indianola and Dallas Center-Grimes as opening night winners in the LHC. Oskaloosa is now 2-5 on the season.

Unofficially, Norwalk sophomore Hadley Michael set 28 assists and freshman Elle Hatlevig led a balanced offensive attack with 13 kills. Emmory Toppenberg had seven kills while Ava Carlson and Jillian Hammond both added six. Dakota Poen totaled 12 digs and the Warriors served 10 aces as a team.

Norwalk coach John Fulton tells KNIA Sports that it’s always good to go on the road and win a conference game against a solid opponent. Fulton added that the Warriors passed the ball well and put a lot of service pressure on Oskaloosa when they were able to get their serves in.

Norwalk returns to action on Thursday, competing in the ADM Tournament at 4:30.
