The Newton Cardinal Football team will have their home opener tomorrow night under new stadium lights. The original lights at H.A Lynn Stadium, which was completed in 1942, were removed a few weeks ago. Last season, after the Pella game, electrical equipment for one of the light towers by the home-side stands caught fire and was extinguished with no other major damage. The Newton School Board approved the $632,000 project. The installation of the new lights was completed just before the Cardinals’ annual Gatorade Scrimmage Friday August 23rd. Tomorrow night Newton plays host to Dallas Center-Grimes. Dallas Center-Grimes opened the season at home last Friday night and lost to Gilbert 35-28, while the Cardinals lost at ADM 13-8. The Pre-game show for the Newton Dallas Center-Grimes game at www.kniakrls.com KRLS3 is 6:30 p.m.. The Kick-off is at 7 p.m..
