The Newton volleyball team and the NCMP Aquagirls swimming team were both in action on Thursday night
The Cardinals volleyball team dropped to 5-4 overall on the season after going 0-2 at their home triangular against Grand View Christian and North Polk. The Cardinals won their first set of the night against Grand View Christian 25-20, but lost the second set 26-24 and the third set 15-9. Against North Polk, Newton fell in straight sets 25-20 and 25-13. On the night, Isabelle Rawlins had 36 assists, 12 digs, and 4 aces, while Delaney Woollums contributed 19 kills, 15 digs, and 3 aces. Macy Lampe added 17 kills and 12 digs in the triangular and Chloe Swank had 19 digs. The NCMP Aquagirls capped off the night by winning a triangular at Grinnell College’s Natatorium. The Aquagirls defeated Indianola 133 to 28 and Grinnell 112 to 71.
The Newton volleyball team will next compete on Tuesday, hosting Pella Christian at 7:15 p.m. The NCMP Aquagirls are also back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Williamsburg for meet with the Raiders at 5:30 p.m.
