With undefeated records on the line, the Indianola and Norwalk football teams meet at Indianola Stadium tonight for a non-district clash, their ninth straight year of matchups for the Warren County rivalry.

Indianola won in dramatic fashion on a goal-line stand as time expired in week one over Urbandale, but will have to do better on both sides of the ball to beat a powerful Warriors squad. The Indians garnered only 275 yards of offense in their win with the majority coming from running back Jake Pontier on the ground, while Norwalk’s balanced offense earned 420 in their blowout victory over Carlisle.

Indianola head coach Eric Kluver said the mental mistakes Indianola made on defense in week one simply can’t happen against Norwalk.

“It’s a change in philosophy for them, they have always been throw first and run second but when I turned on the film on Saturday morning it’s a run-heavy team with a dynamic athlete. They’ll put Eli Robbins at quarterback and run stretch and zone, they’ll still spread you out but they are trying to get an athlete in space and make you tackle him, so we have to do that.”

The home opening game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and simulcast on the Indianola Activities YouTube channel with Andrew Swadner and Rob Hawkins on the call. Pregame begins at 6:30pm, with kickoff at 7:30pm.
