The City of Newton is providing residents an opportunity to get rid of unwanted electronics, scrap metal, and appliances today. The City has a partnership with H & W Recycling in Baxter and A-Line Iron and Metals of Waterloo to accept these items from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Items should be brought to the public parking lot at North 2nd Avenue West and West 4th Street North. A complete list of items accepted free can be found on the City of Newton’s website www.newtongov.org. A-Line Iron and Metals will accept televisions and computer monitors for a fee:

Regular sized TV’s- $20

Console TV’s- $30

Big Screen TV’s- $30

Computer Monitors- $15

The City of Newton says A-Line Iron and Metals have all their certifications to de-manufacture appliances, freon, and electronics. The company is also certified by the DNr and the EPA.
