A 40 year old Newton man accused of stealing from the Wal-Mart in Pella is free on a $1,000 bond. Pella Police have charged Lance Christian Hansen with 2nd Degree Theft, which is a Class D felony. On four separate occasions Hansen allegedly scanned some items but not others while going through self check-out aisles. Police claim he purposely did not scan merchandise totaling $1,517.59. A Wal-Mart theft prevention employee discovered the thefts from late July while reviewing store security video. Hansen has a court appearance scheduled for this coming Thursday September 12th.
