Norwalk’s state-ranked boys golf and volleyball teams are both in action today, including a top 10 volleyball showdown at Indianola.

The Class 4A fifth-ranked Warrior boys golfers compete in the 11-team Ottumwa Invite. Competition begins at noon at the Ottumwa Golf and Social Club. Norwalk has posted a team score below 300 in three out of five meets so far this season, including an 18-hole school record of 286 at Beaver Creek near Grimes. The Warriors placed second at Ottumwa last season.

The Norwalk and Indianola volleyball teams square off tonight in Indianola at 7:15. The Class 4A eighth-ranked Warriors enter the match with an 11-5 overall record and the 5A fifth-ranked Indians are 10-1. Both squads are 1-0 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Indianola defeated Norwalk 25-14, 25-23 earlier this season at the Southeast Polk Quad. The Indians won last year’s conference game at Norwalk by a 3-1 decision.

Having already played 16 matches, the Warriors lead Class 4A in four individual stat categories according to gobound.com. Freshman Elle Hatlevig leads 4A with 131 kills and 23 ace serves. Sophomore setter Hadley Michael is the 4A leader with 342 assists and senior libero Dakota Poen leads the class with 143 successful serves in 160 attempts.
