Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson is looking for volunteers to serve on a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). An open to the public meeting about this opportunity will be held in Newton tonight. Robinson helped form a CERT team in Mahaska County, where he worked before coming to Jasper County. He says there is a job for everybody interested in helping out.
“I don’t care where you are from, where you have been, your age, I will find a position for you. I have had CERT members who live in wheelchairs, use canes, there is a job for everybody when it comes to supporting emergency services.”
Robinson says CERT members can help with search and rescues, clear debris from natural disasters, and assist at an Emergency Operation Center. Tonight’s informational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center at 1030 West 2nd Street South in Newto
