A Newton Public Library Trustee position that has been vacant for over two months has been filled. This week the Newton City Council unanimously appointed Rachel Braafhart as the new Trustee. City staff said Braafhart expressed an interest in the position and is qualified to serve. Her term will expire June 30, 2030. She fills the vacancy created when Noreen Otto completed her term this past June. The Newton Public Library Board of Trustees consists of five community members who fulfill six-year terms and help set the direction for public library service in the community and plan for the library’s future.
