Newton School Board President Robyn Friedman says the Board of Education will be evaluating the District’s Americans with Disabilities Act issues with Maintenance Supervisor Jack Suttek. This comes after longtime Cardinal Football fan Tom Hollander spoke to the school board this week. He complained about the lack of handrails on the steps at H.A. Lynn Stadium. Hollander says he’s brought this up to Newton School Board members in letters and emails since September of 2022.
“During that time, the school district has made improvements at the football field including a new surface and scoreboard. A new Berg Middle School track with ADA approved bleachers has been put in along with new softball and baseball diamonds with ADA approved bleachers. The ADA Act was approved in 1990. That was 34 years ago.”
Hollander believes installing handrails to the H.A. Lynn Stadium steps should be addressed immediately. If not, he says he and his wife will stop attending games there.
