After a successful home opener last Friday night, the Newton Cardinal football team hopes to get their second win of the season at Norwalk tonight. Newton won 28-7 at home against Dallas Center Grimes a week ago. The game featured two-yard touchdown runs by Isaiah Hansen, Sklyer Milheiser, and Qhjuan Coley. Christian Ergenbright also had a 98-yard kick-off return for a touchdown. That return followed Dallas Center Grimes’s only touchdown, trimming Newton’s lead to 15-7. It was also a momentum changer, according to Newton coach Andy Swedenhjelm.

“That’s what good teams do. When they feel other teams are starting to gain some momentum, they can slam the door shut and take control of the game back.”

Norwalk lost at Indianola last Friday night 28-3 after defeating Carlisle in Norwalk to open the season 35-7. Game time for Newton vs. Norwalk is 7:30 this evening with the pre-game at 7 p.m. on kniakrls.com KRLS3.
