Teegan Kralik and Tony Anania both placed in the top 15 on Thursday, leading the Norwalk boys cross country team to third place out of 23 teams at the Marshalltown Bobcat Invite. The Norwalk girls finished 13th out of 20 teams.
The Warrior boys, who moved up two spots to 3rd in this week’s Class 4A team rankings, scored a 152 on the Marshalltown Community College course. Second-ranked Cedar Falls won the meet with a 64 and No. 14 Indianola placed second with a 126.
Kralik, who is ranked 30th individually in 4A, placed 12th at Marshalltown with a five-kilometer time of 15:38. Anania was three seconds behind Kralik in 15th. Also placing in the top 50 for the Warriors were Grant Wallace in 32nd, Aksel Beedon 43rd and Sam Parker 50th.
Johnston won the girls team title with a score of 51 and Norwalk placed 13th with a 364. The Warriors were paced by freshman Olive DeRocher’s 43rd-place time of 19:46. Pearl Brown and Gabby Drymon finished 70th and 74th, respectively.
Norwalk’s next meet is the Tom Karpan Invite on Tuesday at West Des Moines Valley.
