The Pella Christian boys cross country team finished in tenth place and the girls were 13th at the Gilbert meet Tuesday night, while the Eagles volleyball team swept Woodward-Granger 3-0.
Sawyer Meinders lead the way for the Class 2A #14 ranked Pella Christian boys cross country team in 14th place with a time of 16:30.3, while Deacon Branderhorst (17:35.6) was second across the finish line in 47th. For the Class 2A #14 ranked Eagle girls, Bailey Vos finished just ten seconds back of the program’s all-time lowest time, taking 27th in 20:06.8. Hayley Rens (20:48.5) took 42nd place in the meet, and posted the second fastest time by a freshman in the girls team’s history. Find full results from the Gilbert Cross Country Meet here.
Back on Eagle Lane, the Pella Christian volleyball team won their fifth straight match via a sweep. The Eagles controlled much of the first set against Woodward-Granger, opening the game with a 25-18 victory. The Hawks put up more resistance in the second set, but Pella Christian managed to hold them at bay for a 25-22 win. Putting the finishing touches on their fifth straight sweep, the Eagles cruised to a 25-14 victory in the third set to improve to 8-3 overall on the season. Chloe Huisman posted a team-high 14 kills, while Brynn Runner had 22 assists. Addison Bandstra and Runner added six and five blocks respectively, while Brynn Roozeboom and Rachel Kacmarynski each had four blocks.
The Pella Christian cross country is back in action on Monday at Ballard, while the volleyball team returns to the court on Tuesday at cross-town rival Pella.
