The Simpson College football team dominated Crown College 45-7 Saturday night at home for their first win in 2024, a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Storm picked up an early score in the first quarter on a Quentin King touchdown run to go up 7-0, and then Simpson went on to put up seven more points in the second quarter from a 15 yard touchdown pass from J Jensen III to Cole Staska to go up 14-7. The Storm held just a 14-7 advantage going into halftime, but exploded on offense in the second half as the defense didn’t let up any more points. In the second half the Storm saw a 97 yard touchdown reception from Jensen to Noah Cracraft early in the third quarter and then Cracraft went on to reel in another touchdown reception for 52 yards to bring the score to 28-7.

In the fourth quarter, running back Demarico Young was electric, scoring a 66 yard touchdown and a 44 yard touchdown to bring the score to 45-7 and put the game on ice. Jensen passed for 241 yards in the contest with three touchdowns, while Cracraft had 206 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Running back Demarico Young had 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the contest while starter Quentin King had 116 yards and a touchdown. The Storm defense was also suffocating all game only allowing the one touchdown early in the second quarter and they recorded three total interceptions. This was the first Simpson win at home since October 29th, 2022 and Head Coach Reed Hoskins was happy with his team’s effort.

“Our guys were really motivated. We took some good steps and won a number of good ball games on the road last year, but we didn’t have the opportunity to celebrate in our own locker room. That was our goal going into this week, to make sure we made sure we had a chance to celebrate there. Our guys were really focused and played really hard. It wasn’t always clean, especially early in the game, but I think our staff made really good adjustments at half and it definitely showed up in the result.”

The Simpson football team improves to 1-1 on the season, and they will take on the University of Dubuque next Saturday on the road to open American Rivers Conference play.
