Stout Leads Women’s Golf Team with Career Low
Parker Stout shot a career best 36-hole score leading the Central College women’s golf team to a 13th place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic on Sunday.
Stout finished with a 75-78–153 at the par-72 Ironwood Golf Course and tied for 15th place. Allie Pfantz finished in 48th place with a 76-84–160, and not far behind was Jaden Smith with an 82-86–168. Rounding out the lineup for the Dutch were Mickey Martens at 86-86–172, Amber Timmer at 87-90–177, and Lydia Grond at 88-90–178.
The next tournament for the Central women’s golf team is on Saturday and Sunday at the Buena Vista Open in Storm Lake.
Central Men’s Golf Team in 11th Place After Round One
The Central College men’s golf team shot a 319 and is in 11th place out of 18 teams after the first round of the Frank Wigglesworth Invitational.
Leading the Dutch after the opening round is Blake Wynn, who shot a 76 and is in a tie for 16th. Bautista Valeiras is two strokes behind Wynn, after shooting a 78. Maison Brandt is in a tie for 38th with a 79. Crew Klingner is in a tie with teammate Carter Yurgae, with both recording an 81, and Kayden Pendergrass rounded out the lineup with an 82.
The squad returns to the course today to finish the Invitational at 10 am.
Central Men’s Tennis Team Opens Fall Season
The Central College men’s tennis team started their fall season by participating in the Cornell Invitational.
The Dutch took 21 players to the invitational, where they played against athletes from Loras College, Cornell College and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. There were six flights of singles and doubles matches and the squad went 10-14 in singles and 4-8 in doubles. The team got wins from Nick Scott 6-4, 6-1 and Ayden Fletcher 7-5, 6-3 in the A-flight of singles. Jack Briggs won his B-flight match 6-0, 6-1 and Travis Subbert] also added a 7-5, 7-6 win in the same flight. In the C-flight of singles Cashen Thompson got a 6-3, 6-3 win, and Gavin Jablonski won 6-0, 6-1. Alex Slaymaker joined Fletcher to get a doubles match win in the A-flight when they took down a duo from UW-Stevens Point 6-3.
The Dutch men’s tennis team next competes in the American Rivers Conference Individual Championships in Cedar Rapids on Saturday and Sunday.
