The ranked Pella Christian cross country teams competed in a split field at Ballard’s Mike Carr Invitational Tuesday, with the boys taking 3rd and the girls finishing in 4th in Class B.

The Class 2A #14 Eagles boys finished behind two Class 3A teams in #3 ranked Des Moines Christian and Nevada, while the girls were behind Class 3A #15 Des Moines Christian, Class 2A #1 Van Meter and Class 1A #1 Madrid. Sawyer Meinders led the way for the Pella Christian boys in the meet, taking 10th place with a time of 18:25.5. Deacon Branderhorst (18:27.2) wasn’t far behind in 11th, finishing just two seconds back of Meinders. Will Vanden Bosch (19:21.8), Eli Hoksbergen (19:41.9), and Griffin Stoltz (19:43.4) claimed 20th, 22nd, and 23rd respectively, while Logan Gallaher (20:00.7) rounded out the Eagles lineup in 29th. The Pella Christian girls were led by Bailey Vos on the night, as she took eighth place with a time of 21:05.8. Hayley Rens (22:01.3) was the second Eagle girl across the line in 14th place, followed by Julia Schmalcs (23:21.3) in 20th and Maisy Meinders (23:54.4) in 27th. Nora Lamb (24:49.5), Sophia Slagter (25:34.8), and Addison DeJong (25:40.0) round out the Pella Christian lineup in 39th, 41st, and 42nd.
