A $10,000 check was presented yesterday afternoon to a Jasper County facility that helps men and women live productive lives after going through drug addictions. Sheepgate in Colfax is a division of the Adult & Teen Challenge of the Midlands, It’s a year-long, residential, Christian discipleship program that helps men and women coming out of drug addiction. The $10,000 donation from 100+ Men Red Rock will be applied towards construction of a multi-purpose building they’ve been fundraising for, according to Jared Horras, Sheepgate’s Program Coordinator.
“It will be a rec room for the winter months for exercise or to spend some time doing rec activities. It will have space for groups that do not necessarily need or want to commit to a 12 month intensive inpatient program. It will also have some health classes, CPR, learning to administer Narcan.”
100+ Men Red Rock is a group of about 150 men committed to financially supporting charitable organizations that serve the Red Rock region in Marion and Jasper Counties. They donate $15,000 every quarter, with awards of $10,000 and $5,000. Sheepgate and Knoxville’s Federated Garden Club were the organization’s 2024 third quarter check recipients.
