Volleyball Falls to 2A #2 EBF
In what was billed as a showdown for control of the South Central Conference between two ranked teams, was all Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Tuesday night as the class 2A #2 Rockets swept class 4A #11 Knoxville in three sets 25-19, 25-15, and 25-18. Knoxville was caught out of system time and again, and the Rockets took full advantage. The Panthers did close the gap in the 1st and 3rd sets after trailing by as many as ten points, but were unable to get closer than four points either time. Panther players Hannah and Addy Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS while it was a tough loss there is still a lot of the season left to play.
Hannah: “We knew they were going to be good coming in and when their connection is on point they’re tough to stop.”
Addy: I don’t think we have anything to hang our heads about. We had great connection on shots and Payton getting hurt, hurt us a little but I know she’ll be ready soon and we’re just ready to move on to the next game.”
Addy Dunkin had 19 assists and was 9/9 serving with two aces. Rylyn McCarty led with six kills while Abbie Keitges had 12 digs and was 15/16 serving with four aces and Addisyn Williams was 11/11 serving. Knoxville is now 7-4 and 2-1 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers are back at it Thursday night at the Des Moines Christian Invitational.
